No major furusato nozei website offers a full English experience as of October 2026. Most foreign residents use a big Japanese portal with browser translation. The best site for you depends on the accounts you already have, the gifts you want, and how you plan to claim your deduction.
Key facts (as of October 2026)
- Who can donate: People who pay resident tax in Japan. The site you use does not change the tax rules.
- Cost: ¥2,000 per year if you stay within your deduction limit. Portal fees are part of the municipality’s fundraising costs. (MIC)
- Points: Since October 1, 2025, portals can no longer give points for donations.
- English: The large portals are in Japanese. Furusato Japan, a smaller site, had an English option when we checked in October 2026.
Does the website change your tax deduction?
No. Your deduction is the same on every site. The municipality, not the portal, receives your donation and issues the receipt. (MIC)
Every portal sells gifts under the same national rules. The municipality can spend up to 30% of your donation on the gift, and the gift must be a local product. (MIC)
So the choice comes down to convenience. Pick the site that is easiest for you to search, pay on, and follow up with.
What matters most for foreign residents?
Five things make the biggest difference when you don’t read Japanese well. Check them before you pick a site.
| Point | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| English screens | Translation tools often mistranslate gift names and form labels |
| Gift selection | The same municipality may list different gifts on different sites |
| Online one-stop application | Lets you skip the paper form, but each municipality decides which sites it supports |
| Payment | Most sites take credit cards. Bank transfer and other methods vary |
| Account | Using an account you already have means less setup |
The online application point surprises many people. It depends on the municipality, not just the portal. More on that below.
How do the main furusato nozei websites compare?
This table compares sites on the five points above. We did not rank them, because the right choice depends on your situation. “Not confirmed” means we found no official source as of October 2026.

Source for the online column: Mutsu City lists Satofull, Furusato Choice, Furunavi, and JRE MALL as eligible. It says Rakuten donations are not eligible. (Mutsu City) Other municipalities may differ.
Payment methods change often, and they also depend on the municipality. Here is what each portal says, as of October 2026.
| Site | Payment methods the portal lists |
|---|---|
| Rakuten | Varies by municipality. Credit cards work for all municipalities, but card brands may be limited. (Rakuten) |
| Furusato Choice | Credit cards, plus up to 14 methods such as PayPay and convenience stores. Some depend on the municipality. (Furusato Choice) |
| Satofull | Credit cards (5 major brands), convenience stores, PayPay, Amazon Pay, Rakuten Pay, Pay-easy, and more (Satofull) |
| Furunavi | Credit cards, Furunavi Money, Amazon Pay, PayPay, Rakuten Pay, d Payment. Bank transfer in some municipalities. (Furunavi) |
| ANA | Credit cards, ANA Pay, Amazon Pay, d Payment. Amazon Pay and d Payment vary by municipality. (ANA) |
Use a card in your own name. Furusato Choice says a card in another person’s name makes the donation ineligible for the deduction. (Furusato Choice) None of these pages say whether foreign-issued cards work. Ask the portal before you donate.
Which large Japanese portals work with translation?
All the large portals are in Japanese, but they work well with Chrome or Safari translation. Search with Japanese words for the best results.
Rakuten Furusato Nozei
Rakuten suits you if you already shop on Rakuten Ichiba. It uses the same login, saved address, and checkout. (Rakuten)
Rakuten portal points for donations ended on October 1, 2025. Your credit card company can still give its normal card points. (Rakuten)
At Mutsu City, Rakuten donations can’t use the online one-stop application. You may need the paper form there. (Mutsu City) For a full walkthrough, see How to Use Rakuten Furusato Nozei in English.
Furusato Choice
Furusato Choice is in Japanese. We found no English section on its site in October 2026. It lists the most payment methods of the sites we checked. (Furusato Choice)
At Mutsu City, Furusato Choice donations can use the online application through the municipal My Page service (自治体マイページ). (Mutsu City)
Satofull and Furunavi
Both sites are in Japanese only. At Mutsu City, Satofull donors can apply online through the Satofull app. Furunavi donors can apply through 自治体マイページ. (Mutsu City)
If you want to skip the paper form, these sites may be worth a look. Always check what each municipality says, since rules differ.
Visit the sites: Satofull, Furunavi, Furusato Choice (in Japanese).
Can you use Amazon or ANA for furusato nozei?
Yes, both Amazon and ANA run furusato nozei services.
Amazon started its service on December 19, 2024. About 1,000 municipalities and 300,000 gifts joined at launch. (Amazon) We could not confirm English screens or online one-stop support from Amazon’s official pages.
ANA’s site is in Japanese. It takes credit cards, ANA Pay, Amazon Pay, and d Payment. You can donate without an ANA account. (ANA)
Amazon may suit you if you already have an Amazon Japan account. ANA no longer gives miles for donations made on or after October 1, 2025. (ANA) You can still turn miles into ANA Pay balance and use it to donate. Do not choose a site based on old point or mile offers.
Are there furusato nozei sites in English?
A few smaller sites have offered English. We checked both in October 2026.
- MOGUFULL (もぐふる). A food-focused site run by the Wismettac group. It added English and Chinese support in September 2023. (Wismettac) In October 2026, mogufull.jp did not show the donation site. Check it again before you use it.
- Furusato Japan. Launched by Luxurique in September 2022 in English and Japanese. It focused on local experiences and started with 4 municipalities. (Luxurique) In October 2026, the site was open with an English option. Its featured towns were Ichinoseki, Kutchan, and Fuji. (Furusato Japan)
English sites usually list fewer municipalities and gifts. They help most if you want to read every screen yourself.
How should you choose?
Start from what you already use, then check the municipality’s rules. These four steps work for most people.
- Check your deduction limit first. Use Rakuten’s free simulator (in Japanese). The site doesn’t matter if you donate too much.
- Start with an account you already have. Rakuten, Amazon, or ANA users have less setup.
- Decide how you will claim the deduction. If you want to apply online, check which sites each municipality accepts.
- Compare the gift on two sites. The same gift may be listed on several portals.
| If you | Consider |
|---|---|
| Already shop on Rakuten Ichiba | Rakuten Furusato Nozei |
| Want to skip the paper one-stop form | A site your municipality supports online, such as Satofull or Furusato Choice at Mutsu |
| Want English screens | Furusato Japan, which had an English option in October 2026 |
| Need to file a tax return anyway | Any site. You will use the donation receipts |
If you file a tax return, the one-stop exception doesn’t apply. Then the online form support doesn’t matter. (MIC)
What mistakes do people make when switching sites?
Using more than one site is fine. Problems start when you lose track of your donations.
| Mistake | What happens | How to avoid it |
|---|---|---|
| You lose count of municipalities across sites | You pass 5 municipalities and lose the one-stop exception | Keep one list of all donations, on all sites |
| You think each site has its own limit | You donate too much in total | Your deduction limit covers all sites together |
| Your name or address differs between sites | Documents use the details you entered. Rakuten treats them as your resident record (Rakuten) | Use the details on your residence card everywhere |
The one-stop exception allows up to 5 municipalities per year. Several donations to the same municipality count as one. (Takasaki City)
What should you do next?
- Check your deduction limit. See Furusato Nozei Limit.
- Pick one site you can log in to today.
- After you donate, follow the one-stop steps in One-Stop Exception Form in English.

FAQ
